DIGITAL INDONESIA
Why do internet-use purposes not add up to 100 percent?
An explanation of multiple responses in the survey of internet activities.
Respondents can report more than one purpose for using the internet. Because categories overlap, their percentages do not need to total 100 percent.
What the measure covers
Each bar should be read separately against the same base of internet users.
BPS digital statistics use Susenas with a defined reference population and recall period. Different indicators can use different denominators.
How to compare it
Check whether the base is people, internet users, or households. Percentages with different denominators cannot be added or directly compared.
Limits on conclusions
Aggregate data does not identify users, device brands, operators, or the audience size of private platforms.
