VEHICLES AND MOBILITY
Why is the vehicle count different from the owner count?
The difference between vehicle units, owners, households, and active vehicles.
Vehicle statistics count registered units. They do not state how many people own vehicles, how many households have none, or how many units are used each day.
What the measure covers
Ownership analysis requires owner or household data that this table does not provide.
The land transport table counts vehicle units by type and recording area. The Indonesian National Police produces the data and BPS publishes it.
How to compare it
Use the same vehicle type, year, and geographical coverage. Keep unit totals separate from rates per person or household.
Limits on conclusions
The table does not contain owner identities, daily use, vehicle condition, or distance travelled. Do not add meanings the data does not measure.
